Experts and Authorities to Analyze Opportunities for Developing Renewable Energy During Geothermal Energy Week 1 December 2008: The “Geothermal Energy Week,” which opened on 1 December 2008, is hosted by the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) and the Governments of Chile and Peru. The week will conclude on 5 December and include two main events: an international conference on the “Situation and perspectives for geothermal energy development in Latin America and the Caribbean,” to take place in Santiago, Chile; and a seminar on the potential for the development of geothermal energy in Peru, to be held in Lima, Peru.

The regional event will be attended by regional representatives that
possess geothermal resources, representatives from countries outside
the region with experience in the area, executives from companies
specialized in the exploration and exploitation of geothermal
