February 2012: The European Commission’s Environment Directorate-General has released new pages on its website on the marine environment and coasts, with links to information on the EU’s coastal and marine policies, good environmental status and international cooperation through Regional Seas Conventions.

On EU coastal and marine policies, the website covers the EU Marine Directive, its implementation and integrated coastal zone management (ICZM). On good environment status, the website includes information on: biodiversity; non-indigenous species; commercial fish and shellfish; food webs; eutrophication; sea-floor integrity; hydrographical conditions; contaminants; contaminants in seafood; marine litter; and energy, including underwater noise.

The website also addresses interactions with other policies, the Regional Seas Conventions, young people, and research and publications, and includes a calendar of upcoming events. [Marine Environment and Coasts Website]
