Costa Rica, Uruguay, Spain, and Antigua and Barbuda Sign ABS Protocol

Costa Rica signed the Convention on Biological Diversity's (CBD) Nagoya Protocol on Access to Genetic Resources and the Fair and Equitable Sharing of Benefits Arising from their Utilization (ABS) on 6 July 2011, followed by Uruguay on 19 July, Spain on 21 July, and Antigua and Barbuda on 28 July, bringing the total number of signatories to 41.

1 August 2011: The number of signatories to the Convention on Biological Diversity’s (CBD) Nagoya Protocol on Access to Genetic Resources and the Fair and Equitable Sharing of Benefits Arising from their Utilization (ABS) has reached 41, following recent signatures by Costa Rica, Uruguay, Spain, and Antigua and Barbuda.

Costa Rica signed the Protocol on 6 July 2011, followed by Uruguay on 19 July, Spain on 21 July, and Antigua and Barbuda on 28 July.
