The World Bank has announced that 19 awards were granted to young individuals from 14 countries as part of the Voices4Climate competition, which was organized by the Connect4Climate in collaboration with MTV and TerrAfrica.
The competition selected photographs, videos, videos, and music about climate change.
1 March 2013: The World Bank has announced that 19 awards were granted to young individuals from 14 countries as part of the Voices4Climate competition, which was organized by the Connect4Climate in collaboration with MTV and TerrAfrica. The young winners are from Bangladesh, Colombia, Croatia, France, India, Indonesia, Kenya, Malawi, Morocco, New Zealand, Pakistan, the Philippines, Portugal, and Trinidad and Tobago. The award ceremony, titled “Connect4Climate: Right Here, Right Now,” was held at the World Bank’s headquarters in Washington DC, US, and was attended by World Bank President Jim Yong Kim, who underlined the need to listen to the voice of young people in order “to deliver bold solutions on climate change.”
In addition, with the support of the UK-based environmental and arts organization Artists Project Earth (APE), Connect4Climate has produced a charity CD called Rhythms del Mundo: Africa, which features tracks by Eminem, Beyonce, Coldplay, Bruno Mars and several others.
During the event, Connect4Climate and TVN Media Group launched the competition i°Change, which will select the best video message on climate change. Connect4Climate (C4C) is a global partnership focused on climate change communication and action launched by the World Bank, the Italian Ministry of Environment, and the GEF in 2011.
