18 December 2012: With support from the Global Environmental Facility (GEF), the Connect4climate (C4C) campaign coalition with a strong focus on Africa youth and the use of social media has been launched in Times Square, NY, through a 25-second climate music video resulting from a collaboration between Eminem and the Kenyan hip hop group TS1.

The video was played throughout the day on two giant HD screens on 1515 Broadway, the home of MTV, and reflects the GEF’s efforts to reach out to youth. The video is a remixed version of Eminem’s “Not Afraid,” found on the “Rhythms del Mundo: Africa,” a CD produced in partnership with MTV and UK-based NGO called Artists Project Earth.

This initiative aims to give continuity to C4C’s campaign launched in Durban 2011, during the 17th meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, and is supported by the World Bank and the Italian Environmental Ministry.
