CDM Calls for Input on Draft Methodology for Residential Energy Efficiency
story highlights

The call for inputs on the draft methodology, which targets energy efficiency and fuel switching measures in existing residential buildings, is open until 26 December 2012.

UNFCCC26 November 2012: The Executive Board of the Kyoto Protocol’s Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) has launched a call for public input on the draft methodology SSC-II.R “Energy Efficiency Space Heating Measures for Residential Buildings.”

The scope of the methodology entails energy efficiency and fuel switching measures implemented within existing residential buildings, including activities to: improve building insulation, enhance glazing of windows, and improve efficiency of heating equipment or systems. The methodology also is applicable when fuel switching is the result of the implemented energy efficiency measures.

The methodology covers projects that allow direct measurement and recording of the energy use within the project boundary, and that can distinguish between the impact of the implemented measures and changes in energy use due to other variables not influenced by the project activity.

The methodology indicates that the aggregate energy savings of a single project activity cannot exceed the equivalent of 60 GWh per year.

The call for input from stakeholders is open until 26 December 2012. [CDM Press Release] [Publication: Draft Small-scale Methodology: SSC-II.R: Energy Efficiency Space Heating Measures for Residential Buildings]
