3 November 2009: The report and annexes of the 26th meeting of the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) Afforestation and Reforestation Working Group (A/R WG) have been released.
The A/R WG was established to prepare recommendations on proposals for new baseline and monitoring methodologies for CDM A/R project activities, and held its 26th meeting from 28-30 October 2009, in Bonn, Germany.
At the meeting, the A/R WG considered a proposed new methodology for A/R activities on degraded agricultural land subject to abandonment process, and made a preliminary recommendation on the methodology. Regarding clarifications and revisions of approved methodologies, the Working Group continued its deliberation of a request for clarifications related to the application of the procedures to demonstrate the eligibility of lands for CDM A/R project activities, and decided to request the UNFCCC Secretariat to prepare draft guidelines on this issue for its consideration at its 27th meeting. The Working Group also considered draft guidelines and tools for CDM A/R project activities. The A/R WG agreed to hold its 27th meeting from 17–19 February 2010.
