11 September 2008: Ahmed Djoghlaf, Convention on Biological
Diversity (CBD) Executive Secretary, has announced that the first meeting of
the CBD Ad Hoc Technical Expert Group (AHTEG) on Biodiversity and Climate
Change will convene from 17-21 November 2008, in London, UK.

The AHTEG will
address scientific and technical matters concerning the links between
biodiversity and climate change with regard to identifying risks and
vulnerabilities, and impacts and opportunities from, climate change mitigation.
Djoghlaf has invited organizations actively participating in these issues to
provide the Secretariat with the name, coordinates and curriculum vitae of
nominated experts via an official letter. Up to fifteen experts will be
selected. The deadline for receiving the nominations is 22 September 2008. [The
