18 August 2010: The Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) has circulated the list of sponsored experts for the Global Expert Workshop on Biodiversity Benefits of Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation in Developing Countries (REDD), to be held from 20-23 September 2010, in Nairobi, Kenya.

The workshop is organized by the CBD Secretariat in collaboration with the UN REDD Programme, and with the financial contribution of Germany. The list of selected experts includes experts nominated by parties and representatives of indigenous and local communities. The selection of experts was conducted in accordance with established procedures, with particular attention to regional and gender balance, and to enhancing the participation of experts from indigenous and local communities.
