CBD Revises Guidance on Risk Assessment of LMOs for Testing

Parties to the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety are invited to test the revised Guidance on Risk Assessment of Living Modified Organisms (LMOs) and report back to the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) by 30 November 2011.

CBD23 September 2011: The Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) has prepared the revised Guidance on Risk Assessment of Living Modified Organisms (LMOs), based on scientific review carried out by Parties, other governments and relevant organizations, as well as online discussions under the Open-ended Online Expert Forum and a meeting of the Ad hoc Technical Expert Group on Risk Assessment and Risk Management, according to a CBD notification.

Parties to the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety are invited to provide the revised Guidance to experts and organizations involved in LMO risk assessment to test its utility and applicability, and to report the results of their tests using the provided questionnaire, no later than 30 November 2011.
