3 December 2008: The Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) has launched the second volume of the Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation (REDD) and Biodiversity e-Newsletter.
Topics covered include: information on tools that identify win-win
areas for REDD and biodiversity; recommendations of the CBD Expert
Group on REDD biodiversity benefits; the adopted REDD strategy of the
Global Indigenous Peoples Strategy; a report entitled “Making REDD Work
for the Poor;” a partnership of governors in addressing forests and
climate change; and a guide to reducing emissions through forest
conservation. The e-Newsletter also highlights relevant events that the
CBD Secretariat is involved in at the UN climate negotiations currently
