CaMPAM Supports Water-Based Tourism Workshop in Saint Lucia

Supported by the Caribbean Marine Protected Area Management Network and Forum (CaMPAM), the workshop initiated discussion on potential collaborative solutions to ensure sustainable use of the coastal marine resources in the Soufriere Marine Management Area and the Canaries and Anse La Raye Marine Management Area.

27 March 2012: The Caribbean Marine Protected Area Management Network and Forum (CaMPAM) has reported on a stakeholder workshop on water-based tourism at the St. Lucia Department of Fisheries. The workshop aimed to educate resource users on threats to marine resources and livelihood strategies in the country.

The workshop, which was held by the Soufriere Marine Management Association (SMMA), Inc., convened in Castries, St. Lucia, on 26 March 2012. Participants initiated discussion on potential collaborative solutions to ensure sustainable use of the coastal marine resources in the Soufriere Marine Management Area, as well as in the Canaries and Anse La Raye Marine Management Area.
