The teleconference, held on 8 September 2012, focused on the environmentally sound management (ESM) of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE or e-waste) and involved experts from Latin America and the US, as well as representatives of the computer companies Dell and Hewlett-Packard. They exchanged information about progress and challenges facing Colombia, El Salvador, Mexico and Peru as they try to organize sound management systems for, and set policies on, WEEE. The presentations made during the teleconference on the WEEE situation in the four countries are available for download on the BCRC-CAM website.

CRCB-CAM Executive Director Miguel Araujo said he aims to make the teleconferences a monthly event to promote greater information exchange and cross-fertilization among regional stakeholders, with each session focusing on a different chemicals management issue facing Latin America and the Caribbean.
