The Ad hoc Open-ended Working Group (OEWG) to Prepare for the Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee (INC) on Mercury is convening from 19-23 October 2009, in Bangkok, Thailand.
The meeting is considering: the timetable and organization of work of the INC; information that might assist the work of the INC; and activities under the current United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) Mercury Programme. Several information sessions are also being convened to provide context and background for the INC. These include: supply and storage of mercury; small scale and artisanal gold mining; and mercury products, processes and wastes.
