The 18th meeting of States parties to the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) took place from 13-20 June 2008, in New York, US.
During the meeting, delegates reviewed, inter alia: the Report of the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea (ITLOS); the information reported by the Secretary-General of the International Seabed Authority; and information reported by the Chairman of the Commission on the Limits of the Continental Shelf. In addition, parties addressed budgetary matters and elected seven members of ITLOS for a term of nine years, commencing on 1 October 2008.
