The Steering Committee’s sixth meeting is expected to consider the progress and challenges in implementing phase II of the Strategy and to discuss and adopt the work plan for phase III (2011–2015). Furthermore, the Steering Committee is expected to address how to promote the UNECE ESD process at the Seventh “Environment for Europe” Ministerial Conference in Astana and to identify interlinkages of ESD with the key themes of the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD), to be held in Rio de Janeiro in 2012.
