The Seventh Conference of the Parties (COP 7) to the Nairobi Convention is being convened under the theme “Partnering for a Healthy Western Indian Ocean.” It is expected that COP 7 will foster collaboration between international, regional and national organizations as well as secure partnerships between key regional players and the Contracting Parties of the Nairobi Convention in the implementation of the Nairobi Convention Work Programme 2013-2016. COP 7 is preceded by the Science for Policy Workshop (10-11 December) and the Policy Makers and Experts Meeting (12 December) to review decisions to be taken at the COP. The Nairobi Convention area includes: Comoros, France, Kenya, Madagascar, Mauritius, Mozambique, Seychelles, Somalia, Tanzania and South Africa.
