Second Meeting of the Executive Committee of the Warsaw International Mechanism for Loss and Damage

The Second Meeting of the Executive Committee of the Warsaw International Mechanism for Loss and Damage Associated with Climate Change Impacts. The meeting is expected to discuss, inter alia: engagement of Executive Committee members in external activities; the Committee's two-year workplan and the delivery of activities; progress and intersessional e-brainstroming related to the Warsaw Mechanism's various action areas and related activities; specific work to be undertaken in the first half of 2016; any relevant requests arising from the 21st session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 21) to the UNFCCC; and arrangements for the Mechanism's operationalization.

The Warsaw Mechanism, which was established at COP 19 in November 2013, aims to address loss and damage associated with the impacts of climate change, including extreme events and slow onset events in developing countries that are particularly vulnerable to the adverse effects of climate change. The Mechanism's Executive Committee aims to guide the implementation of the functions of Mechanism, and is guided by and accountable to, and reports annually to, the COP.
