SDG 6 Water Action Agenda Special Event

The SDG 6 Water Action Agenda Special Event will provide an analysis of water-related progress across sectors and other SDGs and global frameworks. The event, which is convening on the sidelines of the 2023 UN High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF), is a follow up for the UN 2023 Conference and Water Action Agenda.

The UN 2023 Water Conference brought together world leaders and other leaders and stakeholders to call for greater action to protect and shape a sustainable future. A key outcome from the Conference, the Water Action Agenda represents a collection of all water-related voluntary commitments to accelerate progress in the next five years of the Water Action Decade 2018-2028 and the second half of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The Water Action Agenda aims to transform the political momentum from the UN 2023 Water Conference into ambitious, tangible action.

The event will showcase success stories and lessons learned and generate new commitments to the Water Action Agenda. Participants will also discuss findings from the SDG 6 Synthesis Report 2023.

The UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA) is convening several high-profile special events to highlight the impact of key sectors of society in driving SDG implementation, including this one on water.
