High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) 2023

The 2023 session of the High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) will be the 11th session of the HLPF, and will take place in July 2023.

The meeting will be held from Monday, 10 July, to Friday, 14 July, and from Monday, 17 July, to Thursday, 20 July 2023, under the auspices of the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). The second week will include a three-day ministerial segment, convening as a part of the high-level segment of the Council.

The HLPF is the main UN platform on sustainable development. It has a central role in the follow-up and review of implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and its SDGs. All UN Member States as well as representatives from civil society organizations participate in the HLPF, which meets under the auspices of ECOSOC.

Convening on the theme, ‘Accelerating the recovery from the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and the full implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development at all levels,’ the 2023 HLPF will hold in-depth reviews of five SDGs: 6 (clean water and sanitation), 7 (affordable and clean energy), 9 (industry, innovation and infrastructure), 11 (sustainable cities and communities), and 17 (partnerships for the Goals). It will also support the mid-term review of the implementation of the SDGs and the preparations for the 2023 SDG Summit – the HLPF to be convened under the auspices of the UN General Assembly (UNGA) in September 2023.
