Following the adoption of the Strategic Approach to International Chemicals Management (SAICM) in February 2006, the regional meetings called for in the SAICM Overarching Policy Strategy became a key element in the collective efforts to commence implementation of SAICM. The Asia-Pacific Meeting is being organized in collaboration with the Pollution Control Department of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, Thailand, and the Japanese Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES).
