Regional Workshop on 2030 Agenda and Istanbul Programme of Action for LDCs

The UN Economic and Social Commission for the Asia Pacific (ESCAP) and the Government of the Lao People's Democratic Republic (Lao PDR) are organizing a 'Regional Workshop on the Adaptation of the 2030 Agenda and the Istanbul Programme of Action (IPoA) at the National Level for Least Developed Countries in Asia and the Pacific'. The workshop will: review the key outcomes of the mid-term review of the IPoA; discuss synergies between the IPoA and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development; and identify financing strategies for graduation of countries from LDC status. Around 80 participants will be involved, from government ministries in the region, the private sector, civil society, think tanks, development partners, regional institutions and UN organizations. The second half of the IPoA implementation period coincides with the first five years of the 2030 Agenda. The workshop is part of a process initiated by ESCAP to put in place a strategic approach to implementation of both frameworks.
