Regional Aquaculture Conference 2014

The Regional Aquaculture Conference 2014 will take place on the theme, ‘Blue Growth in the Mediterranean and the Black Sea: developing sustainable aquaculture for food security'. The conference aims to promote socioeconomic growth and food security in the Mediterranean and Black Sea from a blue growth perspective. Expert panels will convene on: enabling good governance in aquaculture; a healthy environment, a stronger aquaculture industry; boosting markets for aquaculture; and advancing aquaculture innovations. Participants will have the opportunity to share experiences and challenges, explore synergies and possibilities for joint action and mobilize political commitment towards a common aquaculture strategy for the region based on a blue growth approach. The Italian Presidency of the Council of the European Union (EU) is organizing the conference with the General Fisheries Commission for the Mediterranean (GFCM) of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO) in cooperation with the European Commission (EC).
