The ministerial meeting, held on the occasion of the 11th Festival of Pacific Arts, aims to highlight the contribution of culture to sustainable development through the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization's (UNESCO) normative actions in culture. A consultation process on the 2005 UNESCO Cultural Diversity Convention in the Pacific will be launched at this meeting.
