Fourth Meeting of the Pacific Biosphere Reserve Network

The Fourth Meeting of the Pacific Biosphere Reserve Network (PacMAB) will bring together managers and researchers to discuss the role of biosphere reserves in sustainable development in the Pacific. The meeting aims to assess progress and identify challenges in implementing the Madrid Action Plan in Pacific biosphere reserves. Participants will also: assess the role of biosphere reserves in contributing to the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs); discuss actions for the post-2015 development agenda, such as a roadmap for contributing to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs); identify follow up actions, including possible ways to increase the number of reserves in the Pacific; share success stories for managing natural resources while fostering economic development; and consider how to improve cooperation and governance of the biosphere reserves and the network. The PacMAB includes the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM), Kiribati, Palau, Papua New Guinea (PNG), Samoa and Tonga.
