The symposium will seek to identify best management practices to harmonize the sustainable use of water for agricultural production and livelihoods with well-functioning ecosystems. Topics on the agenda will include: water management in the irrigation sector; water scarcity and water harvesting; virtual water and food security; impacts of climate change on hydrological regimes and water resources; and gender issues in water and land management.
