The workshop is organized by the UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) in collaboration with other UN agencies and development partners, including UN Women, the UN Development Programme (UNDP), the UN Population Fund (UNFPA), the World Health Organization (WHO) and several other UN agencies. The workshop aims to enhance work on the production and dissemination of gender-sensitive statistics with a focus on sex-disaggregation of data for the global monitoring framework and the list of indicators for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The three-day workshop brings together experts in policy analysis and statistics from Asia and the Pacific region, and is expected to produce recommendations on priorities for strengthening regional support to countries on data production and dissemination, in view of advancing gender-responsive statistics for evidence-based decision-making.
