ESCAP Disaster Resilience Week 2019

The UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) will hold its second Disaster Resilience Week under the theme, ‘Building Disaster Resilience Through Empowerment, Inclusion and Equality’.

The Week will feature workshops, expert meetings and exhibits, and serve as a platform for dialogue and peer learning to support the implementation of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) and SDGs related to resilience and DRR. The event will focus on: regional cooperation on risk assessment and multi-hazard early warning systems; disaster information and knowledge management; applications of space technology and geographic information systems for DRR; and information and communications technology (ICT) for disaster risk management (DRM).

The first ESCAP Disaster Resilience Week convened in Bangkok, Thailand, in October 2017. Read its SDG Knowledge Hub summary here.
