ECLAC Ad Hoc Committee on Population and Development

The biennial ordinary meeting of the principal body overseeing UN Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) work on the population-development nexus will be held under the theme “Population, Territory and Development”. The meeting will discuss, inter alia: population, territory and sustainable development in the Caribbean; reproductive health, adolescent fertility and territory; indigenous peoples, territory and sustainable development; and territory and public policy. The meeting also will define the regional process regarding the review and assessment of the 20 years since the 1994 International Conference on Population and Development held in Cairo (“Cairo+20”). In addition, during a special session, Ecuador will make a presentation on alternative indicators for measuring “good living” (buen vivir).
