DSDS 2002 will be a forum for assimilating knowledge and directions for the benefit of the United Nation’s World Summit on Sustainable Development (Johannesburg, September 2002). The Rio+10 process requires powerful voices and intellectual inputs to ensure that the global community addresses head-on the challenges identified at Rio in 1992. Several world leaders who attended DSDS 2001 were positive that DSDS 2002 would be a unique opportunity to assemble the finest minds concerned with sustainable development and protection of the planet. These leaders and thinkers could assist the Rio+10 process immeasurably. DSDS 2002 thus aims to recharge the political momentum and the enthusiasm of all involved in the Rio+10 process
