The Blue Leaders High-Level Event on Biodiversity Beyond National Jurisdiction will bring together representatives from governments, intergovernmental organizations, science, and civil society to mobilize suppport for the entry into force of the treaty for the conservation and sustainable use of marine biological diversity of areas beyond national jurisdiction (BBNJ treaty, or high seas treaty). 

The high seas treaty was adopted in June 2023 after nearly two decades of talks. The treaty requires 60 ratifications to enter into force.
