This international conference is hosted by the Antarctic and Southern Ocean Coalition (ASOC) to celebrate France’s leadership in the protection of Antarctica and to coincide with the first anniversary of the death of French polar conservation leader Michel Rocard. The event will address the environmental challenges facing Antarctica and the Southern Ocean and discuss the opportunity posed by the creation of an East Antarctic Marine Protected Area. The event is a partnership among the Oceanographic Institute/Albert I Prince of Monaco Foundation, the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation, The Pew Charitable Trusts and the ASOC.
