30 August - 1 September 2011 Paris, Ile-De-France, France
International Quiet Ocean Experiment Open Science Meeting

The purpose of this open meeting, which is organized by the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), is to bring together scientists interested in the effects of sound on marine organisms, including both acousticians and marine biologists, to develop a science plan for a decade-long, large-scale international research project. The goal of the International Quiet Ocean Experiment (IQOE) is to undertake activities that will promote the description of ocean soundscapes, study how these soundscapes affect marine organisms, and estimate how the soundscapes and their effects may evolve in the future, as human use of the ocean changes.
