16 October 2008: The Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) is launching a bi-monthly e-newsletter to inform CBD National Focal Points and other interested recipients about biodiversity aspects in relation to “Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation” (REDD).
The first issue includes news and events of interest,
including on the Juma Sustainable Development Reserve Project in the State of
Amazonas, Brazil, and forest actions announced by Paraguay and Indonesia, as
well as a call for contributions to the draft second edition of the Climate,
Community and Biodiversity Standards, due by 8 November 2008. [The
