The UN Environment Programme's (UNEP) Regional Seas Programme uses a “shared seas” approach to maintain the biodiversity of oceans and marine ecosystems and to help restore ocean and marine ecosystem health, productivity and resilience. The meeting is expected to discuss: implementation of the Regional Seas Conventions and Action Plans, including their role in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the post-2015 development agenda; the Global Partnership on Marine Litter; regional actions on marine litter; the green economy in a blue world; and development of a roadmap on priorities for the next ten plus years. The meeting takes place during the 40th Anniversary of the Regional Seas Conventions and Actions Plans.
