Chemicals Executive Secretary Releases Management Oversight Report

The Joint Executive Secretary of the Basel Convention, Stockholm Convention, and Rotterdam Convention has posted the first quarterly management oversight report for 2012.

The reports aim to increase the openness, transparency and accountability of Secretariat operations.

May 2012: As part of the ongoing synergies process among the chemicals and wastes conventions, Jim Willis, Joint Executive Secretary of the Basel Convention on the Control of Transboundary Movements of Hazardous Wastes and their Disposal (Basel Convention), the Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs) (Stockholm Convention), and the Rotterdam Convention on the Prior Informed Consent Procedure for Certain Hazardous Chemicals and Pesticides in International Trade (Rotterdam Convention), has posted the first quarterly management oversight report for 2012.

The reports aim to increase the openness, transparency and accountability of Secretariat operations. Reports posted for the first quarter of 2012 include: a report on synergies, cost savings and efficiencies by the Executive Secretary; a quarterly budget report on income and expenditure per trust fund; and a report on standard operating procedures. Additional quarterly reports on human resources actions, travel, consultancies, legal instruments and hospitality also have been posted.

The Secretariat welcomes comments and questions from Parties on the information contained in the reports, as well as suggestions for additional materials that the Secretariat could provide to further increase transparency. [Publication: Management Oversight Reports – First Quarter of 2012]
