The High-level Segment (HLS) of the meetings of the Conferences of the Parties (COPs) to the Basel, Rotterdam, and Stockholm (BRS) Conventions (BRS Triple COP) will take place on the theme, ‘Global Agreements for a Healthy Planet: Sound Management of Chemicals and Waste.’ It will address the Conventions’ contribution to tackling the triple planetary environmental crisis of biodiversity loss, climate change, and pollution.

This meeting aims to provide an interactive, dynamic, and inclusive platform for ministers to exchange experiences and to provide political leadership for renewed commitment towards implementation of the Conventions. For the purposes of the ministerial interactive discussions, the theme was sub-divided into the following sub-themes: pollution; life-cycle approach; and means of implementation.

The HLS is convening ahead of the BRS Triple COP, taking place from 6-17 June in Geneva, Switzerland.
