IUCN Prepares for World Conservation Congress

IUCN has announced that the draft agenda for the World Conservation Congress, which will take place in Jeju, Republic of Korea, from 6-15 September 2012, and the first set of Congress documents are available on the IUCN Congress website.

IUCN notes that participants are invited to register online and take advantage of an Early Bird fee by registering before 5 July 2012.

April 2012: The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) has announced that the draft agenda for the World Conservation Congress, approved by Council, and the first set of Congress documents are available on the IUCN Congress website in the three official languages, namely English, French and Spanish.

The Congress will take place in Jeju, Republic of Korea, from 6-15 September 2012. Additional documentation will be circulated by 8 July 2012, together with the motions proposed by IUCN members as reviewed by the Resolutions Working Group. The deadline for submitting motions is 9 May 2012.

A new Motions Blog has been launched for IUCN Members to draft and discuss motions. In order to facilitate the work of the Resolutions Working Group of the Council, IUCN invites Members to submit proposals before the deadline. For the Secretariat to distribute any such proposals from IUCN Members in the three official languages of IUCN by the deadline of 9 May 2012, proposals should be sent to the Secretariat by 25 April 2012.

Finally, IUCN highlights that so far contributions to the Congress Forum generated more than 750 valid proposals, from which 530 events from Members, Commission members, partners and Secretariat were selected following a rigorous review.
