7 November 2011: The Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) circulated for peer review the draft voluntary guidelines for the consideration of biodiversity in environmental impact assessments (EIAs) and strategic environmental assessments (SEAs) in marine and coastal areas.

The documents consist of: background information on the development of voluntary guidelines; draft voluntary guidelines for the consideration of biodiversity in EIAs in marine and coastal areas; and draft guidance on biodiversity-inclusive SEAs in marine and coastal areas.
