26 May 2009: During its 40th meeting, which took place from 11-15 May 2009, in Gland, Switzerland, the Ramsar Standing Committee approved the Scientific and Review Panel (STRP) work plan for 2009-2012.

One of the thematic areas under which the tasks of the Panel are organized is “wetlands and climate change.” Under this thematic area, the Panel is charged with two priority tasks on “Wetlands and climate change – further review and guidance,” and “Climate change and wetlands mitigation and adaptation – collaborative activities.” [The Work Plan]
