WSSCC Provides Progress Update on Global Sanitation Fund

The progress report on the Global Sanitation Fund (GSF) highlights projects in Africa and Asia, noting that US$48.9 million has been provided so far.

Projects to be launched in the second half of 2012 will work to scale up successful sanitation, and develop community based sanitation projects and hygiene monitoring systems.

27 August 2012: The Water Supply and Sanitation Collaborative Council (WSSCC) published an update on progress implementing the Global Sanitation Fund (GSF), which highlights that that the Fund has provided US$48.9 million to improve sanitation and provide clean, healthy environments for people.

The progress report describes the GSF assessment methodologies, providing results for Cambodia, Ethiopia, Madagascar, Malawi, India, Nepal, Senegal and Uganda. GSF projects will be launched in Burkina Faso, Nigeria, Tanzania and Togo in the second half of 2012. These projects will work to scale up successful sanitation, and develop community based sanitation projects and hygiene monitoring systems.
