World Bank WPP Newsletter Focuses on Water and Food Security

The August World Bank Water Partnership Programme (WPP) newsletter discusses reports on water and food security, integrated urban water management and transboundary water cooperation.

The newsletter also discusses a WPP project on conserving the Kihansi Spray Toad, and presents case studies on water and sanitation in Egypt, Indonesia, the Philippines, Senegal and Burkina Faso.

World BankAugust 2012: The August issue of the newsletter released by the World Bank Water Partnership Programme (WPP) discusses the theme of World Water Week 2012 – Water and Food Security – noting investment by WPP in water for agriculture. The newsletter also addresses integrated urban water management, transboundary water management, public sector investment in water, species conservation, and water and sanitation.

The newsletter highlights recent publications related to these issues including: The Future of Water in African Cities – Why Waste Water; Reaching Across the Waters; and More, Better or Different Spending. These WPP studies highlight the importance of integrated urban water management in Africa to address urban population growth, review experiences in five international river basins and present water-specific Public Expenditure Reviews (PERs).
