3 August 2012: The World Bank is supporting the Sustainable Rural Development Project in Argentina. The project aims to help 3,000 small-hold farmers diversify their income through the sustainable production of agricultural products, and to improve natural resource management and reduce rural poverty by helping families alter their agricultural practices to become more sustainable.
As part of the project, family committees receive technical advice on how to better plan their crops and increase profits. The project also provides funds for farmers to buy crops, small equipment and tools, and for farming infrastructure improvements, according to a production activity plan that takes into account the market production potential and their income.
