World Bank11 February 2013: The World Bank has released the Concept Note for the 2013 Global Monitoring Report (GMR). Produced by the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) annually, the GMR focuses on international progress in implementing policies and actions to achieve the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and related development outcomes.

The 12-page Concept Note outlines the theme for the 2013 report as rural-urban dynamics, noting the relevance of the theme both to the MDGs and ongoing discussions on the post-2015 development framework. The preliminary structure of the report includes chapters on: growth and macroeconomic performance in emerging and developing countries; aid and international financial institutions (IFIs); urban-rural differences, city size and the MDGs; and policy implications of rural-urban disparities in service delivery and the MDGs.

According to the Concept Note, the GMR 2013 is expected to be disseminated between April and June 2013. [Publication: Concept Note: Global Monitoring Report 2013: Rural-Urban Dynamics and the Millennium Development Goals] [Global Monitoring Report Website]
