May 2011: The World Bank’s Carbon Finance Unit’s (CFU) invites eligible consulting firms to indicate their interest in providing support services for monitoring and verification of Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) projects.

The CFU uses money contributed by governments and companies in countries of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) to purchase project-based greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reductions in developing countries and countries with economies in transition. The emission reductions are purchased through one of the CFU’s carbon funds on behalf of the contributor, and within the framework of the Kyoto Protocol’s CDM or Joint Implementation (JI). Interested applicants should apply through the World Bank Group’s eConsultant2, a new online platform for the selection of operational consultants. The deadline for submissions is 3 June 2011.
