WORLD BANK DESIGNS FOREST INVESTMENT PROGRAM

The second design meeting on the World Bank’s Forest Investment Program (FIP), a part of its Climate Investment Framework (CIF), took place on 5-6 March 2009, in Washington DC.

The FIP’s main objective is to pilot and demonstrate new approaches to forest management that lead to major impacts in reducing greenhouse gas emissions from forests.

The second design meeting on the World Bank’s Forest Investment Program (FIP), a part of its Climate Investment Framework (CIF), took place on 5-6 March 2009, in Washington DC.

The FIP’s main objective is to pilot and demonstrate new approaches to forest management that lead to major impacts in reducing greenhouse gas emissions from forests. Among the issues discussed were the participation of indigenous peoples and local communities, and the establishment of a Sub-Committee for the FIP to oversee the operations and activities of the Pilot Program.
