23 March 2009: The World Bank has launched its annual Global Development Marketplace competition for seed grants.

The 2009 competition focuses on three themes: climate adaptation and disaster risk management; climate risk management with multiple benefits; and resilience of indigenous peoples communities to climate risks. Proposals from civil society, governments, and the private sector are invited until 18 May 2009. An award pool of over US$5 million provided by the World Bank Group, the Global Environment Facility and other partners will support 20-25 projects.
