Working Group Begins Implementation of Pacific Food Security Regional Framework
story highlights

This Group will map current food security interventions against the requirements outlined in the Food Security Regional Framework, and develop a workplan for 2011.

18 October 2010: The Secretariat of the Pacific Community (SPC), together with representatives of the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat (PIFS), the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), the World Health Organization (WHO) and the UN Children’s Fund (UNICEF), have formed a multi-agency working group on food security. The Food Secure Pacific Working Group convened in early October in Suva, Fiji, to begin implementation of the Food Security Regional Framework.

One of the first tasks of the group will be mapping current food security interventions against the requirements outlined in the Food Security Regional Framework. According to SPC, this exercise will identify overlaps and also where there are specific gaps in the region’s response. Based on the results of the analysis, the group will develop a workplan for 2011. [SPC Press Release]
