11 February 2009: The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) is distributing hard copies of the World Climate Research Programme (WCRP) Accomplishment Report 2007-2008: Climate Research in Service to Society, which was completed in December 2008.

The Programme, sponsored by the WMO, the International Council for Science and the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission of the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, aims to improve climate predictions and our understanding of human influence on climate through observations and modelling of the Earth system and the policy relevant assessment of climate conditions.
The WCRP report chronicles recent activities and achievements of the Research Programme and its four core projects: Climate Variability and Predictability; the Global Energy and Water Cycle Experiment; Stratospheric Processes and their Role in Climate; and Climate and Cryosphere. It also features diverse cross-cutting initiatives and collaborative projects, and an article on Advances in Modelling and Seamless Prediction. Hard copies of the report can be requested at wcrp@wmo.int.
