© WMO5 May 2009: The World Meteorological Organization (WMO), under its Global Atmosphere Watch programme, is convening a workshop from 5-7 May 2009, in Geneva, Switzerland. The workshop brings together about 90 experts from 30 countries to discuss the need for new improved observational and analysis techniques to address climate-relevant questions and advance studies of atmospheric composition.

From reducing greenhouse gas emissions and mitigating climate change to monitoring stratospheric ozone recovery and forecasting air quality, these issues require observational systems fully integrated at the regional and national levels. The meeting celebrates the 20th anniversary of the WMO’s Global Atmosphere Watch, which has gained broad acceptance as the global long-term measurement, analysis and assessment programme for atmospheric chemistry.
